Mid Week Tease - The First Kiss

Welcome! I'm going back (just a little bit) in time, to one of my first releases for My Mid Week Tease.
Enchanted (Book 1 The Heart of Winter Series)
The First Kiss

I could see my breath billow out in front of me like a roll of smoke as we walked over Gapstow Bridge in Central Park.  The view south was magnificent.  Steel, glass, and concrete buildings rose like modern monuments, towering behind the backdrop of frozen trees with their branches long and twisting.  Standing silent, I glanced to the north to find people were in motion, gliding with ease over the ice topped rink.  Their colorful winter clothes mixed into a perfect multicolored quilt against the white surface upon which they skated.

Austin and I stood atop the stone span of the bridge which curved gracefully over the narrow neck of the pond.  Snow lightly covered the ground, the tops of the stones as well as the pond.  Portions of the pond were frozen solid while darker sections of water showed melted through the pristine white, which had once covered the entire span of the pond.  This place was beautiful, magical.

Austin gazed at me.  He was smiling tenderly, obviously reading the expression on my face.

“This is so beautiful,” I commented.

Austin leaned in close.  I felt his breath as he whispered against my skin. “I thought you would like it here.” I could feel the warmth of him when he grabbed my glove covered hand, placing it in his. “This is one of my favorite spots.”

Austin removed his thumb from the encasement of his leather glove.  He pushed up the lower edge of my glove to expose the inner skin of my wrist to his warm thumb.  The sensation of this, his touch, sent a chill of pleasure over my body.  Feeling my body quiver, he smiled his most breathtaking smile.  In this moment he rendered me breathless.  I looked into his eyes, into the clear never-ending blue-gray.  I felt like I could see forever; see into the essence of Austin.  I was infinitely lost in the glittering color, swimming within the cool clear liquid blue of his eyes.  They are the eyes of my love, my life.

To know with no doubt I loved Austin, this only our third date, may seem unreasonable to some, but in truth I loved him from the first moment I saw him leaning casually against the wall in the restaurant.  It was hard to pull my eyes from him that night and more than impossible to pull my eyes from him in this moment.

Austin’s hand dropped from mine.  He wrapped both arms around my waist, pulling me to him.  He bent down, his face inches from mine, locking his gaze upon me.  He held me there, close, warm, allowing his warm breath to bathe my lips.  Austin kept me suspended within the burning need to kiss him.  I wondered what he was waiting for.  He was not nervous.  I was surprisingly not nervous, and then I experienced the warmth of his mouth, of his lips pressed to mine.

Feeling our lips move together as though we were meant to be, as though his lips were only meant for mine, I closed my eyes.  An emotion of right washed through me.  This was easy, I realized.  There was no apprehension of the first kiss but only knowledge of Austin with his perfect lips shaped softly on mine.  Heat surged through my body as if being hit, struck, walloped.  Maybe Austin had hesitated because he knew once we kissed there was no going back for either of us.  His arms grasp my body.  He had clutched me tighter, pulled me into him with a possession.

In this moment I realized, even through all the layers of our winter clothes, I could feel his body pressed hard against mine.  My lips parted and with a breath, Austin’s tongue caressed mine softly, slowly, deeply.  I wanted to rip the heavy coat from my body and from his so I could feel every line of him as we kissed.  The thought was almost overwhelming, but I dismissed it with the knowledge I needed to control this impulse.  We were in a public place.  This was our first kiss.  I was not the kind of girl who acted so impulsive, so out of control with such sinful thoughts.  After all, I had only kissed two boys in my entire life.

As we kissed, my hands found Austin’s face but the feeling was muted through the wool gloves.  I had to feel his skin, to touch his face.  I had wanted to touch his face the first time I saw him.  The need to touch him raged through me.  The muted sensation from my gloved hand would not give me satisfaction.  I threw my arms around Austin’s neck, allowing my left hand to find my right hand while I kissed him.  I yanked my right glove off and placed my naked hand to his perfect face.

Austin moved his arms from my waist.  He pulled off his gloves then placed his two free hands to my face.  He must have been thinking the same thing.  We needed to touch each other’s flesh.  In the next moment, Austin picked me up.  Clearing the snow from the top of the bridge with one hand, he swiped a clear spot and sat me down.  He moved between my legs, wrapped his arms around me and kissed me breathless.  I'm unsure how long we kissed, but it wasn't long enough.  When he stopped kissing me, he pulled back slightly.  He was gazing at me.  His right palm was pressed against my cheek in a softness which implied possession.

“What?” I asked, breathless.

He sighed. “We are going to be late.”

I felt my mouth turn into a pout.  I was nowhere near done kissing him yet. “Late for what?”

Hi and thank you so much for having me! Shadows of Light is on Evernight Publishing's coming soon page with the release date set to July 29th. Be sure to drop by and pick up a copy! I hope you enjoy my first baby released out into the world. I am so happy and excited to share a little bit of my crazy thoughts with you. Here's a little teaser to perk your interest, LOL.

Happy reading,

Shadows of Light

Adam walked out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist. He’d obviously just gotten out of the shower because his skin glistened.

I watched, mesmerized as a water droplet began its slow, delicious descent from his neck, to his surprisingly hairless chest, past the fresh bandage a nurse had just applied before leaving the room, and down his very sexy six-pack, to the intriguing treasure trail to disappear into the towel.

I licked dry lips, vaguely aware of the increase in my heart rate and choppy breathing. The only thing I could think of was following the trail of the water droplet.

Oh my, I breathed.

Adam’s towel began to tent as I watched. Drawn like a bee to honey, I was halfway to Adam before I became aware of it. I stopped in front of him, nervous, and reached out a hand laying my palm on his chest. My heart was pounding as I touched an erect, brown nipple.

Adam groaned and grabbed my wrist. I looked up at him, dazed. His lips moved but I was beyond hearing.

Must taste. The urge obliterated everything else.

I stood on tiptoe, grabbed a handful of his dark hair, and yanked his mouth to mine. Delighted moans filled the silent room. Adam wrapped an arm around my waist and yanked me into all that hard male strength. My knees buckled and my erection stretched within the confines of my jeans.

Adam licked into my open mouth, his tongue chasing and dominating mine. I shuddered at the heat smoldering inside me. Pleasure flowed, heightening sensitive nerve endings. I pressed further into Adam, trying to get as close as possible. His hands journeyed from my hips to my bottom, kneading.

Oh god!

It was the hottest thing I had ever felt. A whimper escaped and I felt Adam’s groan vibrate in his chest. Pre-cum leaked from my cock. I rubbed it against his stomach to help alleviate the pain. I’d never been so turned on in my life and it was exhilarating. I felt as if I was flying and free-falling simultaneously through a pit of molten lava.

Adam twined his tongue around mine, trapping it. His tongue tasted every crevice in my mouth, leaving no part unattended. His kiss left me feeling ravished and the feeling became addictive.

I broke our kiss to gulp fresh air. Adam rumbled his protest and one of his hands left my butt to grab a handful of my hair and jerked me back to his lips. I had never felt so needed before in my life and I melted into the kiss, my surrender complete. Adam snarled his approval and tightened his grip. He staggered us to the bed. I felt him wince and pulled back from our kiss.

“Maybe we should—” I began before Adam claimed my lips again.

I looked down as he laid me on the bed. Oh wow! Adam’s towel had slid to the floor and he was enormous. His cock had to be at least eight and a half inches long and he was thick. The mushroom-shaped tip was an angry red, pointing straight toward me as if in silent accusation.

Fear shot through me and I scrambled backward on the bed. What the heck do you think you’re going to do with that thing? I shouted at him through our bond. There was no way I was letting him get within six feet of me with that monster leering at me.

Adam laughed and grabbed my ankles to keep me from kicking him. He dragged me toward him spreading my thighs so he stood between my splayed legs. He leaned down and nuzzled my neck before placing a soft kiss there. Despite my fear, I shivered in reaction.

Is this your first time, baby? he whispered, using our bond. Goose bumps pebbled my skin. His voice was just so…sexy and using telepathy heightened its appeal.

I grabbed a handful of his hair and buried my face in his neck. Shyness had overcome me and I found it difficult to meet his gaze. My gift and the threat of Dr. Johannasan wouldn’t let me get close to anyone. Plus I didn’t trust anyone enough to try.

Adam lifted his head and the fierce possessiveness seared me in place. Good, he growled. Adam lowered his head to kiss me again.

Persuasion Skills by Laurel Cremant

The Scholarly Hero

When it comes to romantic heroes, there are certain qualities that as a reader I just can’t resist, and as a writer I can’t help but include. I like my heroes strong, steadfast, hunky and nerdy. Yup you read that correctly. I love a man with a big chest, lots of heart and rapid fire synapses. The type of man that can engage in both physical and mental foreplay like a champ. A super hot, chess playing champ.

Intelligent heroes are just plain irresistible to me. In the stone age I’m sure a big hulking hunter was the man who got all the ladies swooning. During the Victorian Age, it was the suave merchant with the extra money bag (or two). However, in the age of technology and information literally at our fingertips, a man who knows how to think his way out of a situation or strategize his way to success is a prize worth pursuing.

I know that I’m not the only one who feels this way. On some level many readers appreciate the intelligent hero. The popularity of the billionaire hero is proof of that. These men didn’t just wake up in piles of money. They had to either work to gain it or work to maintain it. And that level of success requires more than a modicum of intelligence.

I’m more attracted to the computer and science heroes. The ones who have earned their success through technology and scholarship. Sometimes these heroes are shy, sometimes they come with their own healthy dose of “alpha”, but they always come with an interesting approach to romance and an intense focus that is just down right sexy. Admittedly, I’m a bit biased since I fell for my own computer nerd in real life. My hubby is a Computer and Electrical Engineer.

In my latest book, Persuasion Skills, my hero Jax has embodies a lot of the qualities I love in a scholarly hero. He’s handsome, stubborn and way too intelligent for his own good. However, helping him get to his happily ever after was just too much fun to pass up. Are you a fan of the scholarly hero? If so what makes this hero your go to hero of choice?

Persuasion Skills by Laurel Cremant

In the aftermath of a major health scare, Pepper Holts makes the relief-inspired decision to seize the day. Unfortunately, most of her “seizing” involves a bit of merlot and her best friend's pants! After a shared night of passion she realizes that her feelings for Jax are a lot more complicated than she ever thought.

Jax has finally realized that his allergy to marriage has nothing to do with the institution itself, and everything to do with the women in his bed—or more specifically, the one woman not in his bed. Her reaction to their one night together has him scrambling to regroup. So he does what he knows best—he disappears, and he thinks. The plan?—convince Pepper into staying with him at a secluded cabin for one week. One week of pretending to be a happily married couple to show her how great they could be together.

Marching into the main room, she confronted her friend-come-raving-lunatic.

“Forget Misery. You’re in definite Psycho territory here!”

A tint of red darkened his cheeks. At least he had the decency to blush. His show of embarrassment gave her hope that there was still a chance to reason with him.

“I know it looks bad”

“Looks bad? Looks bad? Jesus, Jax, you bought a closet full of clothes!”

“I didn’t want you to get cold. You’re such a Miami girl.”

“And my shampoo?”

“I wanted you to feel at home.”

“And the drawer filled with lingerie?”

He grinned at her. Stupid, sexy dimples.

“Okay, that one was more for me than you, but you can’t blame a guy for being hopeful.”

She stared at him and tried to take deep, calming breaths.

Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale.

“What exactly is your grand plan here? What are we supposed to accomplish trapped up on this mountain?”

He planted his arms across his chest and gave her a long, unreadable look.

“We live here for one week, like a real married couple,” he said finally.

She opened her mouth to retort, but he cut her off.

“Consider this a trial run. If at the end of the seven days, you’re not convinced we’ll be amazing together, I’ll let you walk away, and I’ll drop the whole thing.”

“I can’t just not go back to Miami, I have work—”

“I called your assistant this morning. She’s cleared your schedule for the next week.”

“My family—”

“All think you’re on a much-needed and overdue vacation. They say ‘Hi,’ by the way.”

Her left eyelid trembled. Was it possible to develop a chronic tick in a matter of minutes?

Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale.

“And how exactly is a real couple supposed to live?”

“We do the things any other vacationing couple would do. We spend time with each other, go on walks, have romantic dinners.” He sent her a heavy lidded gaze. “We sleep together,” he said huskily.

Her body heated at his words, and her mouth went dry at the thought of being in a bed with him again. She let her gaze drift to his crotch and bit back a moan. He was most definitely aroused.

As if sensing her gaze, she could swear she saw his cock thump against his zipper.

She drew her gaze away from the hypnotic view as he made his way towards her with long, smooth steps.

“I’m not having sex with you again,” she said shakily. “That’s what got us into this mess to begin with. If we hadn’t slept together in the first place, you wouldn’t be proposing marriage right now.”

“That’s where you’re wrong.” He placed a hand on her lower back and drew her into his warmth.

The look in his eyes had her catching her breath. Crazy Jax she could handle. Aroused Jax was a whole other story.

He leaned down and nuzzled her throat with his nose before whispering in her ear.

“The sex only helps prove my point, but I’ll make you a deal.”

Her stomach quivered at the feel of his lips at the flesh of her ear. She cleared her throat before responding.

“Does it involve you coming to your senses?”

The rumble of his chuckle vibrated up his chest and against her sensitive nipples as one of his hands smoothed down her back and squeezed her ass.

“No, but it should put you at ease.”

His meandering hand was making it hard for her to concentrate. All she could do was snort in reply, silently begging her hips not to give in and rub against him.

“For the next seven days, we get to pet each other as much as we want, fondle and taste to our heart’s content, but I won’t fuck you, Pep,” he said while nibbling at the soft skin of her throat.

It took a minute for her lust-addled brain to process his statement.

“But you said—”

He lifted his head and placed a soft, too-short kiss on her lips before stepping away.

“I said we’ll sleep together. Before we have sex again, I want you fully willing to be my wife and nothing less,” he said, a serious expression flattening his lips.

She searched his eyes, but his gaze didn’t waver. She grasped at the last life-line she could find.

“I don’t think I can be what you need, Jax.”

“And what exactly do you think I need?”

“I’m not exactly a submissive kind of woman,” she said.

She frowned as he snorted at her statement.

“No shit.”

“I’m serious, Jax. I don’t think I can be the type of woman you seem to want. Our night together was good—”

“Amazing,” he said firmly. “It was amazing.”

“Whatever, fine amazing,” she said, not wanting to go down that road at the moment. “But I’m not wired to be bossed around and told what to do. You want a submissive woman, and I’m just not that.”

He shook his head sadly at her. It hurt to see his look of disappointment, but it was what she expected. She wouldn’t take her words back because they were the truth. As much as she enjoyed him dominating her in bed she knew that the bedroom was as far as she would allow it.

“Pep, if I wanted a submissive woman, we wouldn’t even be here right now.”

“Do I want to tie you down and fuck you senseless? Hell yeah. I can’t wait to see you bound and spread-eagled for me again.”

He reached up and cupped her heated cheeks, tilting her face up to meet his gaze.

“And I can’t wait to see your nipples in pretty little clamps, tight and hard just begging to be sucked.”

Her breathing was way past erratic, but she couldn’t look away from his heated gaze.

“But that’s where it ends. It stays with sex. I like your kick-ass attitude, Pep. I don’t want a woman who isn’t willing to argue and fight. What I prefer in the bedroom doesn’t extend to the rest of our relationship.”

Her heart sank as she saw her chances of surviving the next week with her heart unscathed deteriorate in a pile of ash.

“I don’t want to change who you are, Pep. I just want to prove that we work together. Give this week a chance,” he said.

A heavy sigh worked its way past the lump in her throat.

“You’ve got yourself a deal, Mr. Grey,” she told him.

It almost hurt to see his answering smile of relief.

“Well, Mrs. Grey, I think it’s time for lunch. How ’bout I fix you a grilled cheese sandwich and then we head out for a walk?” He pulled her back in for a hug.

She laid her head on his chest and breathed in his scent. She had a fleeting thought that traipsing around in the woods with him sounded like fun. Apparently, insanity was contagious.

“Yeah, sure. Why the hell not?”

Vows by Tamaria Soana

Vows by Tamaria Soana

Addison Klein’s marriage is falling apart. She’s contemplating whether she should fight to keep her family together or walk away. After the sudden death of her best friend, Peyton, and a vicious fight with her husband Tyler, Addison knows she needs to finally decide her future.

Just when she thinks she's all alone in making this life altering decision, she gets a little guidance from her guardian angel. Addison rediscovers herself and realizes that the vows she said on her wedding day meant something to her... for as long as we both shall live.

Addison sets a plan in motion to seduce her husband.

Peyton's funeral was beautiful and emotionally overwhelming for me. Tyler went to his parents’ house after the church service to pick up the girls. He was never good at showing emotion or handling it when I did.

I accompanied Colin to the graveside service and the funeral brunch afterward for continued moral support. He was a wonderful man, but he wore his emotions on his sleeve. After the brunch was over, the immediate family and I went back to Colin’s house. We spent the day consoling each other and telling stories about Peyton and her antics. We talked about how she seemed to have a sixth sense, a feeling about how things were going to turn out. I finally said my goodbyes and headed home.

I looked over at the clock on my dashboard as I pulled back into the driveway and was stunned by how late it was. I was tired and emotionally drained. I just wanted to go to bed. I opened the door and set my purse and keys down on the table, slipping off my shoes.

"Nice of you finally to come home," Tyler snarked before I saw him walking into the foyer.

"What?" I asked, shaking my head and trying to figure out what he meant.

"You’ve been gone all day," he snipped.

I started to walk away from him and down the hall. "I was with Colin. Where did you think I was?" I replied just a snarky.

"Is there something going on with you and Colin?" he spat, ripping what little was left of my heart out.

I spun around to face him. "You have got to be kidding me! Really, Tyler? Is that what you think?" I took a deep breath and my body started to shake. I was on emotional overload and about to explode. "Do you really think I would do that to Peyton?” I seethed as I wiped the tears running down my cheek with the back of my hand.

"That's what I mean. You ask if I think you could do that to Peyton and I’m wondering if you would do it to me," he yelled.
